IW-2 Series FAQs

Do you offer an upgrade kit for the new Lightning Connector for the IW 20, 21 or 22?

The In-Wall Series has been discontinued and we do not offer an upgrade product to accommodate the Apple Lighting connector.

My IW20/21/22 has stopped working what can I do?

Make sure the iPod is securely seated into the IW unit. Check to make sure the power adapter is plugged into the wall. If this does not resolve the issue, please submit a support inquiry and our support team will be in contact with you.


Do you repair old IW20, 21 or 22 units? 

We are no longer accepting out-of-warranty IW Series units back for service.

LaunchPort with Buttons FAQs

What Control Systems does Sleeve Buttons work with?

LaunchPort with Buttons work with any Lurton Device and/or control system that is Clear Connect Enabled.  Lurton’s Caséta Smart Bridge Pro is an affordable network hub that in most cases is the only device required to enable button functionality with a control system.  Through Lutron Caséta Smart Bridge Pro, LaunchPort with Buttons can work with the following systems: Crestron, Control 4, Savant, RTI, Bitwise, Roomie, URC, Key Digital, Pro Controls, iRule, Elan, Honeywell, Logitech Harmony, IFTTT, “works with Nest” program.

Do I need to use a Lutron system to work buttons?

In most cases, all you need is a Caséta Smart Bridge Pro, not a comprehensive Lutron system.  You may use Sleeve Buttons with Lutron systems like HomeWorks QS, RadioRA 2 if you would like, however.


How do I program Sleeve buttons to work with my control system?

I would like to use Sleeve Buttons in Europe.  What do I need?

In most European countries, you will need 868 MHz Sleeve Buttons to be compatible with the 868 MHz Clear Connect Lutron systems sold in this region.  The most common Lutron system in this region is HomeWorks.


Do Sleeve buttons work via IR or Bluetooth?

No. Sleeve buttons communicate via Lutron’s ClearConnect protocol which is a low frequency, lower power, 1 way radio frequency transmission.


How long does the battery last?

Up to 10 years under normal use.

Control Mount FAQs

What is the Control Mount warranty?

How do I power the Control Mount?

The Control Mount ships with an AC to DC power supply and Electronics Board that is used to power the Control Mount system.  To learn more about these, click here.


Can I use the Mic and Speaker from the iPad while in the Control Mount?

Not at this time.


Can I plug a line out into the headphone jack of the iPad?

No. For best results, we suggest using a wireless streaming technology such as AirPlay or Sonos and use the iPad as a controller instead of an audio source.


Do you make Control mount for other Manufactures?

Can I use the Control Mount outside?

No. The Control Mount was designed for use indoors.


Can I use the iPad Air with the CM-IW2000 V2?

No. The CM-IW2000 V2 was designed for the iPad, iPad 2, iPad 3rd and and iPad 4th generations.

I purchased a new iPad to replace my original 1st generation iPad-in-CM-IW2000. How do I upgrade my CM-IW2000 to work with my new iPad?

We have a power upgrade kit and a fit kit available if you are upgrading from the 1st Generation iPad to the 2nd, 3rd or 4th iPad. If you have the 2nd generation iPad and look to upgrade to the 3rd or 4th you do not need the Fit Kit.  To purchase these items, please contact us at as we do not carry these products on our website.


Do you offer different color Control Mounts?

The Control Mount bezel is white, but it is paint-ready meaning it can be painted any color.


My Control Mount will not charge my iPad any Longer.

Can I use CAT5 or CAT6 wire to remotely power my Control Mount?

Yes. You can group the 8 strands into 2 conductors, keeping note to match to colored strands on each end, and run the wire up to 200 feet away from the power supply.


What kind of power supply is required to run the Contorl Mount?

The Control Mount can operate between 12-24V (1A) DC. The included power supply provided is 110/240V AC input and 15V 1A output.  However, you can use any power supply between 12-24V DC output to power a Control Mount, provided the power supply can deliver at least 10W of power to the control mount.  You can even use an industrial DC high wattage power supply to power multiple Control Mounts from one supply.  These power supplies are typically 13.8V DC output and range from 100-200W output. To learn more about our flexible VoltPort power system on board our current Control Mount line up, click here.

What is the Charge Case and Stand warranty?

How do I charge my iPad with Charge Case and Stand?

Make sure the Stand is plugged into the wall and that you have your Charge Case on your iPad with the lightning connector inserted at the bottom. Place your iPad onto the Stand. There are conductive charge pins on the Stand that align with Charge Pads on the Charge Case. You can charge in Portrait or Landscape Orientation.


Will my iPad become damage if I leave on the Charge Stand for too long?

No. Charge Case and Stand are Made for iPad (MFi) certified by Apple and work in the same way as Apple's provided iPad power adapter.


Can my iPad be removed from the Stand?

Yes, it can. You can easily grab your iPad whenever you need to take it off of the Stand. The best part is that it will most likely be fully charged.


Can I use a screen protector with the Charge Case and Stand?

No. You can use the Apple Smart Cover, however.


Can I buy just a Stand separately?

Yes. You can purchase a Stand a la carte to provide additional locations for mounting and charging.  Click here.


Can I buy just a Charge Case separately?

No, not at this time.


How do I adjust the mounting angle of my Stand?

Push the silver buttons on the sides of the Stand.  Move the mount to the desired angle of your choice by pushing or pulling your iPad up or down. The magnets that attract and align your Case onto the Stand also keep your iPad attracted to the Stand’s movable mount as you adjust the angle.


What kind of headphones can I use with my Charge Case?

You can use Apple’s provided white headphones or another brand that has the same size 3.5mm jack over-mold. Most headphones sold today utilize Apple’s smaller over-mold.


What are the openings on the bottom of the Charge Case?

These are wave-guides that direct sound towards you and passively amplify iPad audio. These are great for enhancing audio from some music or a movie while your iPad rests and charges on the Stand.

Make sure the iPad is securely seated in the case and that the Lightning Module is fully attached into the iPad (at the bottom of the Charge Case). Check to make sure the Charge Stand power supply is plugged into the wall.  If this does not resolve the issue, please submit a support form and our support team will be in contact with you.



LaunchPort FAQs

How do I install a LaunchPort system?

The LaunchPort BaseStation and Sleeve require no installation. Simply slip a Sleeve onto an iPad and plug your BaseStation into a wall outlet. 
The LaunchPort WallStation installation is designed for most people to perform on their own or with the help of an electrician or handyman. For a list of installers, please visit  

Where does the LaunchPort WallStation system get power, once installed in a wall?

The LaunchPort ships with an AC to DC converter that is used to power the LaunchPort system in a wall.  Low voltage wire is run from the power source to the installation location of the WallStation.  Low voltage wire can be a Category cable like CAT 5 or CAT 6 or can be two-conductor wire like 16 AWG speaker wire.  The LaunchPort WallStation power interface is a 2-pin Phoenix connector.


Can I hardwire the Wallstation to AC power? 

No. The LaunchPort Wallstation cannot be wired directly to 110/220 AC high voltage. The Wallstation requires the use of DC low voltage from the provided power supply in order to operate.


How far can I run wire between the power source and the WallStation? 

Please see the iPort wiring guide.


What voltage does the WallStation require to operate?

The LaunchPort WallStation can operate with a supplied voltage of 12-15V DC.  The required Amperage is at least 2A at this voltage. The included WallStation power supply converts 110-240V AC to 15V 2A DC, providing a total of up to 30W output.

Can I power the WallStation with PoE?

No.  PoE is 56V DC, and exceeds the maximum voltage a LaunchPort WallStation can take.  Any power source the provides 12-15V 2A DC to a WallStation can be used.


Can I use the WallStation with a yacht, aircraft or vehicles 12V DC circuit?  

Yes, if the vessel is providing 12-15V 2A DC locally to the WallStation.


Can I order replacement parts for my LaunchPort?

Does LaunchPort get warm?

Yes, and this is normal and safe. Most electronic devices emit some degree of heat.  Heat may be higher during peak charging scenarios or if the LaunchPort is installed in direct sunlight.


How does LaunchPort charge my iPad?

The LaunchPort system uses inductive charging technology to charge your iPad. Inductive charging works by transmitting power between two electrical coils or transformers. If you have an electric toothbrush with a charging dock containing no conductive elements, you are already using inductive charging technology in your home. Because there are no conductive connections, LaunchPort safely delivers over 12 Watts of power over-the-air. Also, when your iPad is not connected to a Station, the Station falls asleep and operates below 1 watt of power, making it compliant with European low energy standards.


Does LaunchPort charge my iPad in the same amount of time as my Apple Power Adapter?



Will my iPad’s battery wear down faster while connected to a LaunchPort system?

No. Your iPad determines its own consumption of power. Thus, there is no difference between charging an iPad on a LaunchPort system or using an Apple iPad power supply. iPad is designed to maximize its battery's lifespan and charge cycles.


What do I do if my LaunchPort system is not working correctly?

What is the LaunchPort warranty?

How do I clean my LaunchPort products?

Dampen a microfiber cloth with a small amount of water and wipe the desired area on the device.  This method may be used for all LaunchPort products.  Cleaning your products in this way will ensure that the finish of the products will last and that the electronics inside will not be affected.


My iPad/Sleeve will not charge when I dock it on my Wall Station or BaseStation?

Can I use CAT5 or CAT6 cable to power my LaunchPort?

Yes. You can group the eight conductors of a CAT cable into two groups of four conductors, keeping note to match the colored strands on each end.  The two groups may be terminated to the Phoenix connector on the WallStation and Wall Plate at the location of the power source.  The CAT cable can be up to 50 feet long.


What size is the Launchport Power Supply Connector?

The iPort Power Supply is an AC/DC 15V 2A Power Supply with a 5.5x2.1MM Barrel Plug  Connector.



FS-2 Series FAQs

Do you offer an upgrade kit for the new Lightning Connector for the FS-21, 22 or 23?

The FS-2 Series has been discontinued and we do not offer an upgrade product to accommodate the Apple Lighting connector.


What are the functional differences between an FS-21, FS-22 and FS-23?

The FS-21 provides IR-control and audio/video out, the FS-22 adds RS-232 Serial Control from the FS-21, and the FS-23 adds IP Control and an On-Screen GUI from the FS-21.


Do the FS-21 and FS-22 provide a video Graphical User Interface (GUI) output to a plasma or LCD?

No. iPort does not offer an on-screen GUI model at this time. iPort is working on GUI models for the future.


Do the FS-21 and FS-22 charge the iPhone, iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod classic?

Yes. Charging is supported on the iPhone 3G and most iPod models, except 3rd generation and older (the ones with 4 buttons across the front).


Are the FS-21 and FS-22 fully-compatible with the iPhone 3G and iPod touch?

Yes. The message displayed on the iPhone stating, ‘not being compatible’ refers to a different accessory item, not the iPort.


Are the FS-21 and FS-22 supplied with Balanced Audio or Balanced Video Kits?

No. Balanced Audio Kit (Part# 70122) or Balanced Video Kit (Part# 70123) are optional and available separately. Please note: the balanced and video Wall Plate supplied with the original FS-3, FS-4 and FS-5 are not compatible with the new FS-21 and FS-22. You will need to upgrade the older balanced Wall Plates with the new Balanced Audio and Video Kits.


Regarding the Balanced Audio Kit and RS-232 control, what type of phone cable needs to be connected from the control system to the Sender Wall Plate?

A phone cable (RJ-11) with a 1-to-1 Pin connection. Many off-the-shelf cables are wired in a flip, with pin one going to pin six. The Sender Wall Plate requires a one-to-one connection, with pin one wired to pin one.


If I buy an FS-21, can I upgrade it to an FS-22?

No. The new FS-2 Series is simplified, so it is important to decide upfront if you need IR control only (FS-21) or IR and RS-232 control (FS-22).


Are the RS-232 control modules identical for both the Original FS Series and the FS-2 Series?

Yes. All existing control modules are compatible with both series.


Does the iPort EX-1 remote work with the new FS Series?

Yes. The EX-1 is available in black (70030) and white (70032). 


Will the new FS-2 Series allow my iPod and iPhone to sync with iTunes? 

Yes. The USB port needs to be connected to a computer with the latest version of iTunes. A USB cable is not included with the FS-2 Series. Apple requires a USB 2.0 cable for syncing. USB 1.0 cables will not work. 


How can I verify the RS-232 functionality of an FS-22? 

The password-protected dealer page on contains the SIOM troubleshooting software and Instruction Manual to test the RS-232 connection using a computer’s COM port. If you are having problems, these tools will help you quickly identify if the problem is with the FS-22 or the control system. (Please contact iPort Technical Support at (800) 582-0772 for more information.) 


The iPod is docked in the FS-22, but the system does not respond to IR or direct control. Is there a problem with the FS-22? 

Not likely. The FS-22 is configured out-of-the-box for RS-232 control and expects to communicate with a control system. However, it can easily be re-configured for both IR and RS-232 control. (Please see FS-2 Series Instruction Manual.) 


My customer has an FS-5 and I want to upgrade him to the new FS-22. What components will I need to accomplish this? 

You will need an FS-22 (70116), Balanced Audio Kit (70122), and Balanced Video Kit (70123). The older Balanced Wall Plate Kit from the original FS Series is not compatible with new FS-2 Series. 


How do I change the audio output from Fixed to Variable? 

The bottom of the FS-21 and FS-22 has a Fixed/Variable switch that can be moved with a small jeweler’s screwdriver or a paper clip. When using the FS-22 in serial mode, the switch should be set to ‘Fixed’. 


The RS-232 board jumper on my FS-22 has been misplaced. Can I get a replacement? 

Yes. The board jumper can be ordered through any authorized iPort dealer or distributor. The part number is 70089. 


The supplied RS-232 cable is not long enough. How far can I lengthen it? 

You can lengthen it approximately 30 ft. (9m) unless the signal is being sent via the new Balanced Audio Kit. 


For the Balanced Audio Kit, how far can the IR be transmitted over the CAT5 between the Wall Plates? 

It can be transmitted 250ft (76m).
